Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, better known as The Bloody Beetroots, returns to the dance floor with his solo moniker, SBCR. While The Bloody Beetroots remain an eclectic, rock-influenced live band, SBCR is Sir Bob’s strictly DJ performance project under which he releases dark, electro, dance-punk productions. SBCR debuted in spring 2015 with his inaugural SBCR & Friends, Vol. 1EP via Dim Mak Records. The six-track collection illustrated SBCR’s synth-laden, cinematic sound, while still taking cues from the Beetroots’ hallmark gritty style. Following the EP’s release, the Italian beatsmith showcased his new sound live with performances at Tomorrowland on Dim Mak’s stage, as well as at the label’s Miami Music Week and SXSW showcases. This past summer, SBCR unveiled his sophomore EP with SBCR & Adversaries, Vol. 2. Careening across the genre gamut throughout the six-song selection, Sir Bob gave listeners a further glimpse into his kaleidoscopic solo venture. Now, with SBCR & Punks, Vol. 3, the final installment of the trilogy, upon us, Rifo delivers a sonic assault or gritty bass, grimy synths and rock heavy guitar plucks. ‘Punks consists of 5 new tracks that include the ground-crushing “Guillotine” featuring fellow Italian TWNTYMLS and “Scream” featuring Australian signal:noize. The SBCR DJ Set, featuring tracks from all 3 Volumes and Classic Bloody Beetroots, will be touring the world through the summer of 2016. This is NOT your typical DJ Set… shit does get broken.
